Overview
This report summarizes the deliberations and recommendations of the WHO Technical Advisory Group on Candidate Vaccine Prioritization (TAG –CVP) from its meetings held on 1 September, 19 October, 22 October and 2 November 2026. The meetings focused on candidate vaccines for the ongoing outbreak of Bundibugyo virus disease.
The Group convened to review progress on two Bundibugyo virus (BDBV)-specific vaccine candidates: ChAdOx1 BDBV (University of Oxford) and mRNA-1469 (Moderna). The report summarizes the safety data for each vaccine platform, pre-clinical toxicology studies, challenge studies in ferrets and non-human primates, interim phase 1 safety and immunogenicity results, and vaccine manufacturing and dose availability. The report presents the TAG –CVP unanimous recommendation to include both ChAdOx1 BDBV and mRNA-1469 in the phase 2/3 trial being conducted in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
