First in a series of webinars on improving our understanding of menopause

The menopausal transition is a natural stage of life for all women, but it is often overlooked as a health issue. It can last for several years and bring symptoms such as hot flashes, sleep problems, mood changes, and pain, which can affect daily life. After menopause, women may face increased health risks like osteoporosis and heart disease. With a growing number of women entering this stage of life worldwide better recognition and support are essential.

In this webinar series, HRP (the UNDP/UNFPA/UNICEF/WHO/World Bank Special Programme of Research, Development and Research Training in Human Reproduction), World Health Organization (WHO), World Association for Sexual Health (WAS), the International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO), and the program for Women Integrated Sexual Health at American University of Beirut (AUB WISH Program), will examine overlooked or emerging topics in menopause-health within a life-course framework, acknowledging the menopausal transition (perimenopause and menopause) as a critical stage in women’s health that requires integrated clinical and public health responses to improve health and wellbeing across lifespan.

The first webinar, Beyond symptoms: Understanding the diverse realities of menopause worldwide will explore evidence-based knowledge, lived experiences and practical guidance to support menopause care and wellbeing
